Comment
by J. Proszynski: Some confusion about types of this species in Logunov, Marusik
2003b: 98. The only specimen known
to be seen by Simon himself is kept in
the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris and is
labelled "Yllenus flavociliatus Simon, Mongolia Sept", [by
the way, "Sept" does not mean month of September, but is an abbreviation
of "Septentrionalis" meaning Northern = "Northern Mongolia"]
and given the collection number "13347". Two
females of that species in the collection
of the Institute of Zoology in Skt Petersburg were found by myself among non-identified
collections in then Leningrad Institute of Zoology (ZIN) in December 1971-March
1972, I have identified them and labelled.
The label is signed "det. J. Proszynski". Why specimens from obviously
the same expedition of Potanin were not labelled by Simon? Most probably they
have not been sent to Simon, and were left in Skt Petersburg. They are not syntypes,
and have no nomenclatorical standing.
They could be called "topotypes" ["specimes from the original
locality"], but none of them can be designated "lectotype".
