Diagnoses of genera
of South East Asia: Stenaelurillus (?; 6). An immature male
S. setosus (sub Philotherus) from Myanmar was described by Thorell,
1895. The carapace is oblong, slightly narrower in front and slightly curving
to a broadly truncated rear. Basically black in colour with a dense black pubescence,
the cephalus is rust coloured and there is a whitish, curved, widish stripe
on each side. The abdomen has a wide transverse whitish band at the front and
a narrower one near the spinnerets. In between, the abdomen is clothed with
a black pubescence surrounding two whitish, circular spots and some other white
marks. The legs are black except for the tarsi, all of which are yellow save
for a darkening near the top. The habitus of S. setosus and the
genitalia of other Stenaelurillus species are drawn in Proszynski, 1984.
Distribution: The main centre for Stenaelurillus is Africa. Single
species are recorded from Tibet, India, Myanmar and China.
