Material: ISRAEL: 1 female holotype - Mt. Hermon, 2000 m., 9. IX. 1971 ; 3 female paratypes - Mt. Hermon, 2000 m., 9. IX. 1971; 1 female Mt. Hermon, 2000 m., 9. IX. 1971. All coll. W. Lebovits, HUJ. Det. J. Proszynski. 1 female paratype - separated from the tube: "903 Syria CB", coll MNHN - Paris.
Remark. The species was first recognized on old, non-identified specimen kept in Simon collection, apparently collected by O. P.-Cambridge in "Syria" (which may be Syria itself, but also present day Lebanon, or Israel). Dr. S. Heciak has contributed the description based on Simon's specimen and confirmed conspecificity of that specimens with above listed specimens. The species is entirely different from Ph. ferberorum, also collected on slopes of Mt. Hermon, at the 600 m lower altitude.
Diagnosis. Abdomen brown, without stripes, epigynal depressions small, located posteriorly, separated by a very short partition, diagonal "V" shaped, made of sclerotized anterior rims, meeting at posterior edge of epigyne.
FEMALE
Cephalothorax brown, with anterior eye field and surrounds of eyes III darker; covered with adpressed, dark reddish brown and a few, whitish setae, the latter located mainly posteriorly on dorsum but not forming any pattern. Sides light brown with thin, dark, sclerotized ventral edge, without any fringe of setae.
Abdomen uniformly brown with reddish gold hue, without any visible pattern [there seem to be remnants of two, parallel, longitudinal lines of denser, darker setae, medially, however, not enough is visible to be sure of its existence], covered with mixed adpressed, reddish brown and black setae, with a few white setae, antero-medially; numerous upright, but short, blackish brown bristles give a "hairy" appearance.
Frontal aspect. Eye field black with dense bristles, surrounds of eyes I dark without visible setae on the rim. Clypeus light brown, bald; chelicerae, brown with reddish hue; pedipalps, small and thin, brown with dark setae.
Ventral aspect: coxae and sternum brownish yellow, abdomen ventrally uniformly brownish grey.
Epigyne with grooves located at the posterior part of epigyne, delimited anteriorly by sclerotized anterior rims, meeting at the posterior edge of epigyne, making a very short septum, v-shaped, the posterior rims are not developed. Copulatory channels are narrow, run parallel and are longer than spermathecae.
Legs brown with some differentiation but not annulated, with sparse setae, dark and distinct.
Measurements (mm): Female. Length of cephalothorax 2.36, length of abdomen 3.99, L. e-f: 0.91, H. cephth: 1.36, W. e-f I: 1.70, W. e-f III: 1.70, W. cphth: 2.16, L. flat dors. surf. 2.66.
Distribution: "Syria"; Israel: Mt. Hermon, 2000 m.
Seasonal appearance of adult specimens: female female - IX.
