Characters of the subfamily: Body often ant-like, but not always. Epigynum with median vertical canals, anteriorly dilated, copulatory channels membraneous, usually twisted into coils or spirals, epigynum with membraneous central window, or a pair of windows. Palpal organ: bulbus encircled by sperm channel which make smaller inlet loop, tibial apophysis short and hook like bent. Males' chelicerae owergrown, chelicerae pluridentati.
