Genus Agorius - Provisional Notes J. Proszynski - 1997

Attention: generic contents  and relationship of the material below uncertain: Orsima acc. to Zabka 1992: 11-12,  ff. 10-17 
has palpal organ resembling Phintella, several species below are either  Euophryinae, or show resemblances to 
Synagelides, relationships of females uncertain  without preparation of epigyne; all have spines concentrated apically on tibia  I 
and swollen basally femur I, some males have abdomen covered with scutum or entirely  sclerotized, other 
are soft. 
Conclusions: All species listed below have thin elongated  leg I, with enormously long patella I and tibia I, and with 
characteristic spines ventrally on apical half of tibia I; similar spines do occur ventrally on tibia  I of Synagelides but 
the segment is not elongated and spines occur along the WHOLE segment. Palpal organ in species listed below 
undergone very extensive evolution:  from almost normal to almost typical Synagelides. Embolus twisted 
in a coil -  from minute slightly bent, to a complete coil, to loose coil but very long; in  every case the seminal receptacle 
extends along retrolateral edge of bulbus without  making meandering coils, such coils in Agorius 3 (from Kerinci) 
do occur farther on, deepper inside bulbus) Agorius sp.5 is congemeric with Agorius gracilipes:  Pr¢szynski 
1968b: 221-225, ff. 10-12. because of tibia I shape and spination -  epigyne in preparation. Agorius sp. 13 
(Gen. O sp 3.) - palpal organ of Synagelides,  tibia I - Agorius. A specimen of a real Synagelides (fom 
Templer Park near Kuala  Lumpur) - legs shorter and more robust.
