In years 1862-1890 Curator Warszawskiego Gabinetu Zoologicznego (Warsaw University Zoological Cabinet) which later become Zoological Museum in Warsaw (after merging with Museum of family Branicki). He was main creator of the collections of that Museum, by own collecting, and by organizing collections and expeditions by other interested persons. His main interest was ornithology, where achieved outstanding results, but also identified collections of spiders (including Siberia, Mongolia, Algeria). Apart from faunal list o spiders of Warsaw (published in 1866 and 1867), of only historical interest, he has published pioneer descriptions of spiders from South America (French Guiana and Peru) based on specimens collected by Polish explorers (K. Jelski, J. Sztolcman) these papers are still important for arachnologists studying these faunae.
