Diagnoses of genera of South East Asia: Vailima (?; 5-6). The
single male V. masinei Peckham & Peckham, 1907 was said to be close
to Harmochirus (p. 342), but the male palp, chelicera and cephalothorax
drawn by Proszynski, 1984 and new, recently collected specimens, indicate that
this is not the case. Distribution: Vailima is known only from Borneo.
General remarks: Most of these genera are known only from south east
Asia. Although there are still no habitat details, genitalia and occasionally
other drawings are now available for many of them. In the original descriptions
and in Simon's salticid classification, mention is sometimes made of close and
more familiar relatives. The latter will be discussed in more detail in due
