Diagnoses of genera of South East Asia: 51.5 Broad, squat, hairy, brownish salticids with flattish carapace.Genus: Stertinius. Typically, the male carapace is about as long as broad, round on the sides, attenuated to the front and rear. The top is flat. It is basically black, rugose and clothed in dense, whitish-yellow, squamose hairs. The abdomen is a broad oval. Dorsally there are two rows of dark red sigilla with white squamose hairs, and a vague, broad, median stripe anteriorly with pale yellow squamose hairs. There are short, oblique, dark lines on the sides legs, which are much more robust than the others, are black with white hairs, and the -tibiae have dense black hairs ventrally. The remaining legs have segments which are darkish, but yellow apically. The male palp of S. nobilis is drawn in Proszynski, 1983 and is thought to be close to Ligurra latidens.
