ETYMOLOGY OF THE NAME. Species named in honour of Jan Karski (Jan Kozielewski),
lately professor at Geogetown University, Washington DC, USA, during II World
War, in November 1942, emissary from the AK - Polish Resistance in the Nazi
occupied Poland to the Polish Government in Exile, in London. His communications
included eye witness accounts on Holocaust and messages from Jewish leaders
in Poland, on which he was able to speak directly to a number of VIPs, including
the President F. D. Roosevelt and British Foreign Secretary A. Eden, as well
as Mr. Mr. Felix Frankfurter, Nahum Goldman, Stephen Wise and Mr. Waldman. His
account was met with incredulity, and appeals for help caused no action.
