Diagnoses of genera of South East Asia: Hispo (7; ?). Elsewhere (5-7; 3-4). Only one species, an immature female from Sumatra, H. alboguttata Simon, 1903, is known from our area. The cephalothorax is quite flat. In plan the carapace is a rather elongate oval and slightly flared near the front. It is orange in colour with the eye surrounds black. The abdomen is long and narrow, rounded at the front, with long straight, slightly diverging sides that curve to a point near the spinnerets. It is yellow brown in colour and carries several pairs of round areas of white hair tufts. Legs I and II are enlarged and have a few weak ventral spines. The legs are pale yellow in colour and legs I are tinged with black. Distribution: Six species of Hispo are, found in Madagascar. Two species are recorded from the Seychelles and single species are recorded from Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Sumatra. Murphy & Murphy 2000: 273-274.
