Diagnoses of genera
of South East Asia: Stagetillus,(6; 6-8), PI. 27.8. Three
members of this genus come from our area. For the type species S. opaciceps,
the carapace is a drawn-out oval narrowing noticeably to the front. It is shiny
yellowish-red in colour with two dark, curving and converging stripes on the
sides and whitish-yellow between the eyes. The abdomen is very narrow and long.
It is dark purplish in colour with narrow, elongated white marks on the sides
and a transverse white mark near the spinnerets. The front pair of legs is much
more robust than the others, dark in colour save for the yellow tarsi. The remaining
legs are essentially yellow but the femora and of patellae leg II are darkish
yellow. Ventrally, tibiae 1 carries 3 pairs and metatarsi I 2 pairs of very
strong spines. Genitalia and habitus figures are given in Proszynski, 1987.
Distribution: Stagetillus is known only from Sri Lanka, P. Malaysia
